eye in the sky

The truth is that i have been quite lazy lately.Today while going through the blog archives i discovered that i have not posted a mix in ages.Since i was thinking of mixing some songs for some time now i i decided to seize the day and beatmatch some tunes i've been listening to lately. So i settled down for whole two hours and made this mix that i called ''Eye In The Sky''.I had a hell of a time making this and i hope you enjoy it the same as i did.

I'm in heaven whenever i'm with you

The last few days have been quite miserable so i wasn't so much into blogging.I wanted to post this track for some time now as it has been one of the most played tunes of the last month. It's a song that can brighten up my mood even when it's grey outside.''I'm In Heaven'' by Touch Of Class is a an epic love song featuring amazing vocals and some heavy vibe work by Mr Vincent Montana that make the song blow off after the first few minutes.Modern soul, early disco, call it whatever you want this song is classic in every way.

julia

Some things or people can really make a difference in our lives and give a whole new meaning to what could be described as the definitive line between being and non being.I always thought that what is left from all this thing called life, all the time in between popping out from the warmth of your mothers womb to this rather mad world and the moment you end up cold and lifeless in a kitsch looking coffin, are some rare moments of happiness.Hiding up in your lovers arms on a stormy night,a painting by Claude Monet, the first time you wanked off,a poem by Pablo Neruda, your skin on someone else's skin, chocolate cakes and many other things that vary for each human in particular but can turn life into a song worth singing.Lately i added to my list this piece of music that I'm posting today.Music as a form of art or a form of sheer fun is one of these things that can lift humans to the upper scale of existence and causing them to be almost divine than being a walking pile of shit. This piece of music by Japanese avant garde jazz musician Seigen Ono is a rare case of beauty.I wont say much more about it.Turn off all surrounding appliances that cause noise and just listen to this.It will be as good as any of the things i mentioned before. It can bring a smile on your face or tears in your eyes but the result will be the same either way.If you fall asleep before it ends then you are reading the wrong blog or you should check your pulse. Thanks for reading all this.I know you usually just here for the music.

max essa-keys to the villa mix

Max Essa is one of the favourite people of this blog. Some of his tracks have been feature in our mixes and his Back To The Beach EP was one of the best releases of 2008 in our best of the best list. His production style is so unique you cant miss it when you hear it.Filled with amazing guitar playing that creates dreamy soundscapes his releases easily stand out of the bulk of Balearic influenced records on the market.Max's new single Drivetime is a real beauty and is out on the 9th of February on Bear Funk.Watch out for this one.The full LP is coming out on the 2nd of March and is one of the release i expect with great excitement.Max was kind enough to make a mix for our blog and im very happy to present it to.So this is Keys To The Villa Mix by Max Essa. It's a great late night Balearic session for your listening pleasure.Check it out!

tomorrow's world

The guy enjoying this inflatable sofa is called Raymond Parker and was the presenter of one of the most popular BBC series called Tomorrow's World.Tomorrow's World was a science show that run on British TV for as much as 38 years. What we are dealing with here though is the music theme of the show. For those who are not familiar with the show this track may come as a surprise. It sounds like an early Italo synth record with a really eerie feeling to it.Produced by some of England's electronic music masterminds like Paddy Kingsland, Roger Limb and Delia Derbyshire this outstanding piece of electronic music is way ahead of it's time.If you want to impress your friends use this tune in your DJ sets and leave people wondering.

date with the rain

This week has been such a busy one that i didn't even got in the trouble of posting the poster of our party. It's never too late so this is a last moment call to all of you who didn't get informed on time. This Friday we are bringing with us some of the records we love at Yoga Bala and hope to get those feet start moving once again. Our last party with Todd Terje was a blast and i hope we'll bring along more people to DJ at our parties within the next months to come.Without being Athens' media darlings we are trying really hard to establish a reputation as a different approach to what party music stands for.So tonight don't miss your date with the rain and your chance to dance to a tune like this one.Classic Eddie Kendricks in extended action.

Dance Prance & Boogie

Radius Records is a subsidiary label of NEWS, celebrating Italo-Disco,
both classic and current. The label is run by Belgian DJ
and party organiser, Spacid, who himself has been active on
the Belgian & European party circuit for many years.
Radius digs for the influences of the modern electro disco hype,
seeking to prove that the music of 20 years ago still can sound very modern,
and that dance music not only found it's origin in Detroit.
The Supersonic Lovers are Luca Roccatagliati , Marcello Giordani

That's Luca ‘DJ Rocca’ Roccatagliati, known for his Ajello project,
and Marcello Giordani, who released on Players Paradise and Mule Musiq.
If you like to boogie on funky analogue basslines and gently house your body
on deep intoxicating grooves, both tracks are between NY disco & Italo disco,
this may be the perfect Radius cut for you."

under fire

Distinctive style of dance music.
Great lead guitar.Talented vocalist.
Use this song as a lead in to Human League's Don't You Want Me Baby.

Debra Dejean - are you loving somebody

...to your head .oh no!

This is one of my favorite reggae disco tracks ever.
It's been produced by Castro Brown.
Originally issued in 1979 on Lazer Records.
Lead singer Claire was a former pupil at
Kingsway College in London.Black Harmony got their first break
with an audition tape for Reggae Time on BBC Radio London
mixed by well known broadcaster Steve Marshall.
Also is featured in the Reggae radio station K-JAH Radio West
in popular videogame Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

spinach power

Even if there is not the slightest hint of disco in this recording, the man responsible for it is one of the few people who's name is so much affiliated with the term disco.Long before Giorgio Moroder became the man that put the word disco in everybody's vocabulary he produced several LP's and singles of psych pop under the name Giorgio. This fuzzy guitar piece of hipster pop comes from 1971 and features German pop star Michael Holm on vocals.Using the name Spinach Moroder and Holms produced 3 singles of which Action Man is probably the best effort. It's hard to imagine that the moustached Italian that mastered the use of electronics inmusic production is responsible for this hippy influenced tune that could be the soundtrack to any aspiring hashish party.

red hot and cosmic

Red Hot remixed version adapted from the A&M album "Blow Your Own Horn"
originally recorded for the A&M album "Beyond".
Loving this track especially the video with Rachel McLish,
first woman to win the Ms. Olympia (1980&82).
Herb Albert at his best.
